The Guide Meridian Neighborhood was annexed to Bellingham in the 1990s, the Guide Meridian and Cordata Neighborhoods are some of the fastest growing and more popular areas. The 2000 census sites that about 3,200 people state that  the Guide Meridian Neighborhood is their home. That number continues to grow as development continues Cordata and West Bakerview Road.

The Cordata section of the neighborhood was first developed as a suburban business park, with greenbelts and tree-lined streets. The area has changed to include a residential component, the number of total homes in the neighborhood is now being around 2,000.

WCC (Whatcom Community College) campus is a huge presence in the Guide Meridian Neighborhood. There are trails and greenbelts that have been  planned in the Division Street right-of- way north of Bakerview ultimately connecting NW and Eliza Avenue South of Bakerview.
